Our Story

Sutton House prepared our first 14 meals on the 24th of July 1967, these meals were delivered by Ivy McCasker and Agnes Page. In 1967 the meals cost the Committee 50c but our “guests” only paid 40c

From a humble first delivery of 14 Meals, we deliver today over 220 meals a day.

Meals on Wheels Redcliffe has been servicing the Redcliffe Peninsula since 1967 with funding support from the Federal Government through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.

As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on the ongoing generosity of volunteers to donate their time and commitment so that we can provide quality meals to our customers, for either short or long term periods.

However Meals on Wheels offers much more than a food delivery run. It’s a service that brings a sense of security to our customers through our daily visits. Because we do not leave meals in an esky we are in a position, in an unobtrusive way, to check on the wellbeing of our clients and where necessary contact family or another nominated person if the client needs assistance.

Our volunteers are dedicated to providing a quality, consistent and friendly service and we value and respect our clients for their previous contribution to our community.

MEALS ON WHEELS IS NOT MEANS TESTED AND IS AVAILABLE TO OUR CLIENTS AND THEIR CARERS AT A SMALL COST.
